Samsung reportedly expects the Exynos 2700 in the Galaxy S27 series to outperform both versions of Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile processor in speed and power efficiency. SamMobile reports that the claim comes from a Yonhap News Agency report citing Samsung’s internal expectations, rather than from independent testing.

The comparison covers Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Qualcomm has already teased two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips for September 22, as we previously reported, including a rumored 2nm Pro model expected to appear in Samsung’s Galaxy S27 lineup. The new report identifies Samsung’s own chip competitors by name but does not establish whether the Exynos 2700 will be used in every Galaxy S27 model or region.

Exynos 2700 performance claims

Samsung reportedly estimates that the Exynos 2700 will be 19% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 9.5% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in the Geekbench 6.5 multi-core test. That benchmark measures multi-core CPU performance, making the figures a claim about sustained aggregate processor output rather than single-core responsiveness.

Graphics results are also part of Samsung’s projection. The chip’s Xclipse 970 GPU is said to deliver 5% higher peak performance than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Under a 2.5-watt power limit, however, the reported gap becomes much larger: the Xclipse 970 is said to be 24% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 22% faster than the Extreme Gen 6.

That low-power comparison is the most significant efficiency claim in the report. A GPU that produces more performance within a fixed 2.5W ceiling could help Samsung balance gaming performance, heat, and battery consumption, although the available information does not show how the tests were configured or whether the results came from retail hardware.

Samsung also claims an advantage in on-device AI workloads. In testing with Llama 3.1 8B, the Exynos 2700 is reportedly 18% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Its AI prompt-recognition and processing performance is said to be 5% faster than Qualcomm’s top-end chip.

The report does not provide absolute benchmark scores, test duration, software versions, or independent verification of any of these comparisons. Those details matter because engineering samples and pre-release firmware can produce results that do not reflect final Galaxy S27 performance.

Exynos 2700 specifications and Galaxy S27 availability

The Exynos 2700 is expected to use Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm SF2P process. SamMobile says the chip will likely power the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ in most countries worldwide, while the report does not specify the processor allocation for every market or model.

A recent Geekbench database entry reportedly points to a 10-core CPU, an Xclipse 970 GPU, and at least 12GB of RAM in the tested device. The leaked CPU configuration is listed as:

One major hardware detail remains unresolved: whether the Exynos 2700 includes an integrated 5G modem. Samsung left the modem out of the Exynos 2600 to help reduce heat generation, and the available information does not say whether the company has made the same trade-off for its next flagship chip.

The claims would represent a notable reversal for Samsung’s in-house silicon. The company has improved Exynos performance in recent generations but has not yet surpassed Snapdragon chips, particularly on efficiency. A final chip that matches these projections could strengthen Samsung’s position in smartphone processors while also demonstrating that its SF2P manufacturing process can support competitive flagship silicon.

That would matter beyond the Galaxy S27. The report says stronger Exynos performance could help Samsung attract additional customers to its foundry business, but it offers no details about potential external buyers or commercial agreements. For now, the concrete evidence is limited to leaked engineering-sample information and Samsung’s reported internal estimates—not final, independently verified Galaxy S27 benchmarks.
