IFA 2026: xLean TR1 adds sentence-based cleaning control

xLean is showing its TR1 floor-washing robot at IFA 2026 in Berlin with a software upgrade that turns a natural-language instruction into a cleaning job. The company is demonstrating the system live at Booth 11.1-129 from September 4 through September 8, with first customer shipments scheduled for Q4 2026.

The main addition is EvoMate OS, which xLean describes as an AI Agent experience. A user can give the TR1 a single-sentence request, after which the system is designed to identify the relevant area, select a cleaning strategy, perform the task and report when it is finished. The demonstrations also cover visual assistance features, including locating everyday objects and checking whether pet supplies need attention.

That workflow is handled locally by a D-Robotics Sunrise X5 chip rated at 10 TOPS. The source material doesn’t specify the chip’s memory, software stack, connectivity requirements or whether all EvoMate functions operate without a cloud connection. xLean has not provided those details here.

One machine, two cleaning modes

The TR1's unusual hardware feature is its transition between a wheeled autonomous robot and a user-controlled handheld cleaner. xLean says the change takes one second. In Robot Form, it can perform scheduled hard-floor cleaning across the home; in Handheld Form, it is intended for spills, sticky stains, pet messes and other localized jobs. After the targeted cleanup, the same machine can return to autonomous operation.

The cleaning hardware combines wet and dry pickup with Dual-Motor DirectSuction, rated at up to 17,000 Pa. Two self-cleaning rollers run at 400 RPM each, which xLean says provides up to 800 cleaning actions per minute. Those figures describe the hardware’s maximum or stated operating capability; the supplied material contains no independent performance tests, runtime figures or noise measurements.

Green-laser dirt detection is used to measure mess levels in real time. In Dirt Hunting Mode, the robot actively searches the floor for areas that need attention instead of limiting itself to a preplanned route. Its navigation and perception hardware includes:

• 360-degree LiDAR
• An RGB-D camera
• Infrared sensing
• 44,640 3D sensing points

These sensors support mapping, depth and obstacle or dirt detection, but xLean has not disclosed how they are divided between navigation, visual assistance and cleaning decisions.

The base station handles more of the maintenance

The TR1's OMNI Station refills clean water, extracts wastewater, separates solid and liquid waste, cleans the rollers with hot water and dries them with hot air.

Privacy controls are built into the station and the robot’s software. xLean says the system includes a physical camera shutter and encrypted data transmission. Users can also disable Agent Mode while keeping the TR1's other core functions available. The company has not stated what encryption protocol it uses, where captured images or voice requests are processed, how long any data is retained, or whether EvoMate OS requires an account.

The company is also showing a Space Silver finish and personalized laser engraving for the top cover. Those options were added in response to feedback from supporters. They link the IFA demonstration to the TR1's crowdfunding campaign rather than presenting the robot as an entirely new hardware generation.

Crowdfunding milestone, but no retail price yet

xLean says more than $2 million was pledged by more than 2,000 Kickstarter backers during the TR1 campaign. It also points to four design honors, including recognition from IFA 2025, the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026 and the International Design Excellence Awards. The supplied announcement names three of those recognitions while referring to four awards in total.

The campaign total is not a retail price, and xLean has not supplied a US MSRP, subscription fee, replacement-roller cost or station-maintenance pricing in the material available for this report. Availability is likewise limited to the stated plan for first customer shipments in Q4 2026; the announcement does not specify whether those shipments will include the United States.

The TR1 is being shown during the same September 4–8 IFA window covered by other floor-cleaning announcements, including Tineco’s planned showcase of automated floor washers, cordless vacuums and carpet cleaners. The announcement presents xLean’s approach as one device for scheduled autonomous cleaning, targeted handheld cleanup and sentence-based task requests.
