The throughline in today’s IFA 2026 coverage is technology moving closer to everyday habits: feeding pets, checking health signals, carrying books and recording personal moments. The products on show range from practical household hardware to highly personal wearables, but each makes convenience the central pitch.
Devices for routines at home and on the move
At home, Neakasa is targeting two recurring pet-care chores with its Riko wet-meal feeder and M9 self-cleaning litter box. With launches scheduled for September 8 and October 9, respectively, the pair reflects a familiar IFA theme: appliances designed to take regular maintenance off the owner’s hands.
That same focus on reducing friction carries into portable technology. Boox’s Picco Linux e-reader compresses reading into a 3.97-inch device expected in November for about $100. Its closed Linux software limits app support, a trade-off that puts the emphasis on the dedicated reading experience rather than a broader device ecosystem.
Wearables become more specific
Wearable announcements showed a category stretching beyond the conventional smartwatch. Our IFA wearable roundup covered subscription-free smart rings, Motorola’s $349 LTE watch, and pendants positioned either to track meals or serve as memory keepers. The common thread is not one form factor but a more specialised promise: devices are being framed around particular parts of a person’s day rather than as general-purpose companions.
What to watch next is whether these highly focused products can make their intended routines simpler without asking users to accept restrictive software, subscriptions or yet another device to manage.
