Twitch adds opt-out for Amazon AI training
Twitch now lets streamers opt out of Amazon’s generative AI training, though captions, recommendations, and safety tools may still use their content.

Twitch has added a “Training for Generative AI” toggle that lets streamers prevent Amazon from using their channel content to train generative AI models, as reported by Engadget and The Verge.
The setting covers streams, video-on-demand recordings, clips, stream chats, and other text and images on a channel. Twitch says opting out applies to future training of Amazon models designed to generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video.
The toggle appears under Security and Privacy in Twitch account settings. The Verge found it enabled when checking the setting on August 12, 2026, and said it had asked Amazon whether that is the default. Engadget also reports that the setting was automatically enabled for some streamers.

Opting out does not disable every AI-powered Twitch feature. According to the company’s explanation, Twitch and Amazon may still use channel content for features including automated captions, recommendations, real-time sponsorship assistance, and AutoMod. Twitch says some safety functions cannot be disabled for individual users because doing so could weaken protections for the wider community.
The setting also applies differently to chat messages. If a streamer posts in another creator’s chat, the other creator’s opt-out preference determines whether that message can be used for generative AI training.
